It just suddenly goes black whilst I am in the middle of something, but not off, it's like the computer has completely frozen. Try puppy linux and see if the screen still goes off. To resolve the problem replace the panel or be brave and try to replace the bulb. I've tried to run a virus scan on it and it gets to a certain number then the computer restarts or it goes black again.
