Help My Gateway Shuts Off For No Reason

I am currently using a gateway computer, and for some odd reason it keeps shutting down for no apparent reason. I once had a laptop that would spontaneously shut down if I put it on the bed for more than 3 minutes.] The other thing to consider is the power supply. If all is OK, check the heatsink under the CPU fan, I bet its full of fluff and gunk. No matter what, open up the side of the CPU and look at the fans.

The guy who does Acer stuff is one of those people who will complain about things all day long, but he gets extra animated when it comes to dealing with Acer It could be failing intermittently. I'm using Windows XPSince i changed almost all piece of hardware on my computer, i think it must be a problem either with the motherboard or the CPU itself.... You can then update your Computer Specs here with this info. This air is NOT circulated around the rest of laptop case to dissipate heat. Restart through a prompt.

Many laptops will actually do this, it's to prevent your system from overheating and destroying the internal components. is it my power supply,or something else? If a fan is off kilter, seek in-person professional help (NOTE: You may have to replace the fan).
How the overheating effects the motherboard I am not sure, but I performed the following test to determine that overheating is causing the system to turn off.
